Laura Ugolini

Dr. Laura Ugolini is a Reader in History at the University of Wolverhampton, where she is also the director of the Centre for the History of Retailing and Distribution (CHORD), a research centre that seeks to act as a point of contact between scholars - both in Britain and abroad - engaged in research within this field.

Her book on Men and Menswear: Sartorial Consumption in Britain 1880-1939, was published by Ashgate in 2007.

She is also the editor (with John Benson) of A Nation of Shopkeepers: Five Centuries of British Retailing (IB Tauris, 2003), and of Cultures of Selling: Perspectives on Consumption and Society Since 1700 (Ashgate, 2006), both collections of essays drawn from CHORD conferences. She is also the author of articles and chapters dealing with menswear retailing and consumption.

Dr. Ugolini is currently engaged on a British-Academy funded project on 'Men, Masculinity and Manliness on the English Home Front, 1914-1918'.
