Aashish Velkar

Aashish Velkar has an appointment at the London School of Economics (LSE) and teaches courses on global history and the development and integration of the world economy. He has graduate and postgraduate degrees in business management and over 10 years of work experience in market research, business consulting and directing multi-country projects. He came to the UK in 2002 to study economic history at the LSE and stayed on to undertake doctoral work in the Department of Economic History. His PhD dissertation on how business firms manage transactional and measurement problems through standardisation also won the Thirsk-Feinstein PhD Dissertation Prize from the Economic History Society and has been selected by the LSE to feature in a project that charts the ‘History of Thought at LSE’. Aashish’s research interests centre upon the study of how international markets evolve and how international business activity is coordinated.
